People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA): The animal rights organization | PETA

Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights? READ MORE.

Nature (Season 35) – Forest of the Lynx | Press Release | Pressroom | THIRTEEN

A beautiful, amazing ,unbelievable experience for you to take time, and breath in the beauty of a living forest of the Lynx in Austria’s Kalkapen National Park.

Excerpt from the link:

Austria’s Kalkalpen National Park, nestled between two great mountain ranges, is the largest tract of wilderness in the Alps, but it wasn’t always that way. The park was once the site of major logging and mining operations, but those activities ceased more than two decades ago. Abandoned and unmanaged by man, the Kalkalpen’s forests may look like they are under siege from the extreme mountain weather that impacts its landscape in the form of floods and landslides. But it is just part of the process of how the park is reverting back to its natural and primeval state. One of the symbols of this return to the wild is the reappearance of the lynx after a 150 year absence from these woods.

Forest of the Lynx

Forests are far more complex than previously imagined. The documentary, filmed in 4K, travels deep into the remote forests of the Kalkalpen National Park in Austria – the largest area of wilderness in the Alps. Abandoned and unmanaged by man for close to a quarter of a century, the forest’s dramatic cycle of growth and decay now rules the landscape. What appears at first to be devastation and destruction is in fact part of the fundamental process of the forest’s regeneration and transformation back to its natural, primeval state. TVPG

Three years in the making, Forest of the Lynx chronicles life in this remote wilderness and the complex partnerships among plants, insects, animals and trees. The program premieres Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 8 p.m. (ET) on PBS (check local listings) and streams at pbs.org/nature.

The program follows the life cycles of the park’s inhabitants through the seasons. In the spring, a female lynx sets out to establish her own territory after a year of being reared and taught survival techniques by her mother. It is a solitary life as she has to hunt in a new territory while avoiding other lynxes. In a different part of the forest, another lynx gives birth to two kittens who need her constant attention. They need every chance to succeed as the film states that only one in four will survive its first year.

#LoveTheLeuser! – Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme

Vision:

Our vision is to prevent the extinction of the Sumatran orangutan. We endeavor to contribute to the long-term protection of wild Sumatran orangutan populations and safeguard their habitat.

Mission:

The Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme is endeavoring to conserve viable wild populations of the Critically Endangered Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii). We do this by habitat protection, rehabilitation and reintroduction of ex-captive orangutans to the wild, education, survey work and scientific research.

Aims:

  • To ensure all remaining viable wild Sumatran orangutan populations and their habitat are fully protected and safe from destruction
  • To establish new viable populations of the species in the wild via reintroduction of confiscated illegal pets, serving as a safety net for the original wild population.
  • To increase knowledge of wild orangutan distribution, status, threats, behaviour and ecology.
  • To change perceptions among Indonesian citizens in terms of animal welfare, understanding of sustainable development, and natural resource management.

If you love Dolphins; You will love this vid@sea world

Dozens of animal activists have swarmed a dolphin show at Sea World, on the Gold Coast, this morning.

Video captured by Kaylee Hallam shows the group of protesters storming down the stairs of the Dolphin Cove just after 11am with banners featuring anti-Sea World messages, including “SeaWorld equals slave world” and “captivity is cruelty”.

“This is not a natural environment for the dolphins… there is no excuse for animal abuse,” one male protester shouted through a megaphone.

“We’re speaking for the love of dolphins,” he said, eliciting audible boos from the crowd.
The present activities regarding our interaction with animals is getting really old,so its time we sheep pull back and work on a new future with Mother Nature.

David Attenborough makes emotional plea in Planet Earth II finale

It seems we humans are still in our infancy as we struggle with the nature of our living planet and it’s diversity.

But will we learn to control our population explosion, before we eat all living things faster than they can reproduce.

In order to obtain sustainability, our governments must act quickly, with larger, more bio-protected reserves, which must have a heavily monitored work force to enforce poaching.

Hundreds of millions of people depend on the ocean for their livelihoods and many more rely on the ocean for food. However, the world’s oceans are threatened by global overfishing, illegal fishing and habitat destruction. Their sustainability depends on action by governments, fishery management organizations, citizens and the fishing industry itself.
This public beta version of Global Fishing Watch is available to anyone with an Internet connection and allows users to monitor when and where commercial fishingicon info is occurring around the world.
Citizens can see for themselves how their fisheries are being effectively managed and hold leaders accountable for long-term sustainability.
Seafood suppliers can monitor the vessels they buy fish from.
Journalists and the public can act as watchdogs to improve the sustainable management of global fisheries.
Responsible fishermen can show they are adhering to the law.
Researchers can address important fishery management questions.
We invite all fishery stakeholders to explore the Map. Global Fishing Watch is not an advocacy or enforcement agency, but a transparency tool to help enable awareness and discussion around fishery issues.

CHANGE

Gimme change says the earth.
Give me change says the Ocean,
Give us change say the people.

It’s not what’s in your pocket,
Or how to fly a rocket,
